The HSHSL is available to support researchers at multiple stages of the grant process.
Use the Pivot-RP database to find funding opportunities from federal, private, and international sources. For one-on-one support, schedule a funding consultation with our friends at the Center for Advanced Research Training and Innovation (CARTI).
Our librarians are expert search strategists who can quickly identify the strongest evidence to support your grant proposal. We work with you to clarify your research aims and locate high‑quality literature that strengthens your case to funders. Whether you’re refining a question, gathering preliminary evidence, or conducting a full background review, our team is ready to help.
If you’re planning a systematic or scoping review, HSHSL librarians will build a comprehensive, standards‑aligned search strategy and set up your review in Covidence, a robust review management system. We maintain complete search documentation and provide a polished methods narrative suitable for inclusion in manuscripts, ensuring your review is transparent, rigorous, and fully reproducible.

The HSHSL can prepare professional quality figures for grants and publications. This is a fee-based service, but vouchers are available from the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) to cover the cost.

Selecting a journal for publication can be challenging. HSHSL librarians can help you evaluate potential journals and identify the best fit for your manuscript. We also advise on author IDs, open access options, predatory publishing concerns, navigating publishing fees and public access policies, and the role of preprints. Schedule a consultation with a librarian to discuss these or any other publishing questions.

Librarian expertise can be built into grant proposals when projects require time‑intensive literature searching, evidence synthesis, data management, or other specialized support. Including librarian effort in your budget ensures dedicated time for high‑quality, reproducible search strategies and data services throughout the project.
