The HSHSL Student Advisory Board (SAB) launched in fall 2024. Students from all UMB schools were invited to become members. Students from the schools of dentistry, graduate studies, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and social work volunteered to provide feedback about the HSHSL and how it can better meet student needs. We at the HSHSL are committed to student success and want to hear directly from students about your experiences using the HSHSL's resources, services, and spaces as well as your recommendations for change.
How Do I Volunteer?
SAB members have one-year appointments covering two semesters - fall and spring. The HSHSL recruits new members in late summer. To apply to join the SAB, fill out the application by September 1, 2025.
Expectations of a SAB Member
SAB members participate in three one-hour meetings per semester. The most important contribution you can make is to share your experiences with using the HSHSL and your ideas for its future. You may be asked to review a website or a brief document ahead of a meeting, or to share information about library events, services, or programs with your peers.
What is the Meeting Format?
Meetings are held in a hybrid format. In-person meetings take place at the HSHSL, with a virtual option available via Zoom. Meeting invites will be sent once meeting dates are finalized. Special service events and meeting make-up opportunities will be available for those who miss a scheduled meeting.
Recognizing SAB Engagement
As recognition of your service on the SAB, you are eligible to receive a service award of $100 for each semester you participate. You will also receive a certificate of service at the end of your tenure. Meals will be provided for in-person attendees.
