Offsite Access to Library Resources

You will be required to enter the 14 digit barcode, located on the back of your UMB1One Card,

and your last name to access Library resources from offsite.

Only UMB faculty, staff, currently enrolled students except those in the School of Law* and UMMC staff are allowed access to e-resources including e-journals, e-books, databases and e-reserves.

Obtaining a UMB1One Card or Barcode

  • New UMB faculty, staff and students will be issued UMB1One Cards upon arriving on campus.

  • Students enrolled in a UMB distance education course, UMB faculty that provide instruction at a distance, and UMB staff at remote locations are not required to come to campus to obtain a UMB1One card.  However, to access Library resources from offsite, you must use a UMB barcode.  Obtain your barcode from the UMB portal. Go to http://myumb.umaryland.edu.  Sign in or if you are a first time user, register for a myUMBID. The ASC Desk provides step-by-step instructions for obtaining a UMB barcode. For assistance, call the ASC Desk at (410) 706-4357.

  • UMMC residents and staff must register as a Library user to have offsite access to Library resources including e-journals, e-books and databases.  Visit the Library’s Circulation Desk with your UMB1One card or UMMC ID to register.

For more information on UMB1One Cards, visit http://www.umb1one.umaryland.edu/ or call (410) 706-MYID (6943). For questions about access to e-resources, call the Reference Desk at (410) 706-7996.

*UMB faculty, staff and students in the School of Law have access to e-resources through the Thurgood Marshall Law Library.
