Instructions for Electronic Reserve System (ERes)
|
|
|
The Electronic Reserve System (ERes) allows
you to access and print many articles that instructors have placed on reserve.
It also provides information on locating materials that are not available on ERes,
e.g. books and certain articles, or articles that are available through electronic
journals or databases. ERes can be used from HS/HSL computer terminals or remotely
from the library's website http://www.hshsl.umaryland.edu.
Course listings can be accessed in several different ways, including searching
by department name, course number, or course name. The easiest way to search is
by the instructor's name.
- Click on Electronic Reserves and
Course Materials.
- Select an instructor's name from the
Main Course Index drop-down menu and click GO.
- If prompted, enter the course password
(no spaces, ex. Nice123Going) provided by the instructor and then click accept
after reading the copyright agreement.
- Article or book titles are listed alphabetically
and are linked to a PDF document, a Link to a website, or to
an HTML or Text-formatted note. PDF documents can be read/printed
from the ERes system; HTML and Text document links will provide information
on how to locate the book or article.
PDF documents:
Click on the Print icon to print the article. To return to the document
list, click on the "X" in the upper right-hand corner of
the document (smaller) window.
HTML and Text documents:
For items available at the Circulation Desk, copy the call number on a "Reserve
Request Slip". For those not available on reserve, go to the Electronic
Journal list or database indicated, and search for the article title. Close
the window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right-hand
corner of the smaller window to return to the document list.
LINK documents:
Clicking on a title links to the website containing the document. Use the
browser's Print button to print the document. Click on the "X"
in the upper right-hand corner to close the window.
- To change to another course or instructor
from a document list, click on the Course Index link on the sidebar.
From a department or instructor list, click QuickSearch/Course Index
to begin a new search.
QuickSearch allows you to search
by instructor, article or book title, author, course number or department name.
Use the drop-down menu to select the desired field.
Please do not submit more than 5 articles
for printing at a time.
Questions:
If you do not find your course, check at the Circulation Desk.
