  • Academic Search Premier
    EBSCOhost's Academic Search Premier is a multidisciplinary, full text database designed specifically for academic Institutions. Through the database, the HS/HSL has provided links to over 600 full text journals in many areas of study - including the social sciences, chemistry, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and more.

  • AGELINE
    Produced by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), this database contains citations and abstracts to books, journals, research reports, consumer guides and book chapters. The references in AgeLine come from the gerontology collection of AARP's Research Information Center, as well as selected articles from 300 magazines and journals, aging-related dissertations from UMI's Dissertations Abstracts database, and descriptions of videos. It covers topics such as government-sponsored programs for elders, healthcare costs and policy, elder care, financial and retirement planning, and fitness. 1978 to present. Updated three times a year.

    This consumer-friendly database, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, provides patients and members of the public easy access to information about the location of clinical trials, their design and purpose, criteria for participation and additional disease and treatment information.

  • Current Index to Statistics - Extended Database (CIS-ED)
    A bibliographic index to publications in statistics and related fields from 1974 to the present (currently defined as publications through the end of 1998 plus some early 1999 publications). Included are 106 "core journals", as well as selected articles from about 900 additional journals, and about 8,000 books in statistics. Each year, it is updated with an additional year of coverage. CIS is a joint venture of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

    This database contains dissertations and theses from the University of Maryland, Baltimore that have been published in UMI’s Dissertation Abstract database.     Integrates information from a number of databases (nucleotide sequences, protein sequences, macromolecular structures, whole genomes, and MEDLINE) at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Entrez provides access to over 10 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases with links to participating online journals.

  • ETOH (Alcohol and Alcohol Problems Science Database)
    Produced by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), ETOH covers all aspects of alcohol abuse and alcoholism. It includes abstracts and bibliographic references to journal articles, books, dissertations, conference papers and proceedings, reports and studies, and chapters in edited works. Updated monthly, ETOH contains research findings from the late 1960s to the present, as well as historical research literature.

  • ETS Test Collection
    The Collection includes a library of 20,000 tests and other measurement devices from the early 1900s to the present. It was established to make information on standardized tests and research instruments available to researchers, graduate students, and teachers. Information on obtaining the tests is included.

    Facts and Comparisons includes Drug Facts and Comparisons®, Drug Interaction FactsTM, The Review of Natural Products® and Med Facts: Patient Information. Drug Facts and Comparisons is a comprehensive drug information compendium. Drug Interaction Facts includes more than 1,200 interactions monographs detailing possible drug interactions. The Review of Natural Products provides detailed information about natural products; including their botany, history, chemistry, pharmacology, medicinal uses, toxicology, and patient information. Med Facts: Patient Information Hand-outs is designed for patient education, counseling and drug therapy management.

    Scholar is Google's effort to index scholarly literature. You can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations. Because many of the full-text resources in Google Scholar are only available to subscribing institutions, Google has provided a solution that makes it easier for you to access the electronic and print resources at the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL), University of Maryland.     Contains citations to the published literature on health services technology, administration, and research. HealthSTAR is derived from MEDLINE, CATLINE, Hospital Literature Index, and selected journals and is produced by the National Library of Medicine and the American Hospital Association. 1975 to present.     A resource for scholarly and technical journal evaluation and comparison, using citation data drawn from more than 8,400 journals worldwide. Coverage is both multidisciplinary and international, and incorporates journals from over 3,000 publishers in 60 nations. JCR Web is available in two editions: The Science Edition and The Social Sciences Edition. Updated annually.

  • Journals@Ovid
    The Journals@Ovid database is an aggregate of scientific, technical, and medical journals from selected publishers and societies. The Health Sciences and Human Services Library subscribes to eighty-four of these journals, which are linked to the MEDLINE and CINAHL databases to provide full-text access to articles.

    Provides full text for approximately 1,840 general reference, business, consumer health, general science, and multi-cultural periodicals. It also offers indexing and abstracts for approximately 2,810 periodicals. Full text backfiles go as far back as January of 1990, while indexing and abstract backfiles go as far back as January of 1984. Updated daily.

  • MICROMEDEX® Healthcare Series
    A collection of twelve databases which support clinical decision-making and high-quality patient care by providing comprehensive drug, acute care, and toxicology information. Updated quarterly. Micromedex® is available free to current faculty, staff and students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and to staff at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). Through special agreements, School of Pharmacy preceptors may also access the system.

  • Military and Government Collection
    Designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military, this database offers a thorough collection of periodicals, academic journals and other content pertinent to the increasing needs of those sites. The Military & Government Collection provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 300 journals and periodicals. The database also includes full text for 245 pamphlets and offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 400 titles.

    This site provides a single interface that lets users search multiple retrieval systems at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The NLM Gateway accesses MEDLINE/PubMed (includes PREMEDLINE), OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus (NLM's online catalog), AIDS Meeting abstracts, MEDLINEplus (consumer health), HSRProj (health services research projects), DIRLINE (directory of health organizations), document delivery through Loansome Doc and the UMLS Metathesaurus.

  • OLDMEDLINE via OVID
    OLDMEDLINE contains citations to articles from international biomedical journals covering the fields of medicine, pre-clinical sciences and allied health sciences during the period 1951 through 1965. Subject searching of this database is available through key words and text phrases. Unlike MEDLINE, this file contains neither abstracts nor MeSH headings (MH) from NLM's current controlled vocabulary.

    PEDro is the Physiotherapy Evidence Database.   • Proquest Digital Dissertations

    The database includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of more than 1.7 million of these titles is available in paper and microform formats. The University of Maryland is an institutional subscriber to ProQuest Digital Dissertations so we receive on-line access to the complete file of dissertations in digital format starting with titles published from 1997 forward.

    Provides access to a combined file of MEDLINE and PREMEDLINE, as well as linking citations to full-text. The full-text option is currently available for a limited number of journals. If there are any charges for an article, it is the user's responsibility to pay. PubMed also provides access to several genome databases.

    SCI Expanded is a multidisciplinary database covering over 5,300 scientific and technical journals across 164 disciplines from around the world.     ScienceDirect
    ScienceDirect is a database of full text journals. The full text of over 300 Elsevier titles is available. ScienceDirect also allows you to search by topic within its journal collection. However, full text is only available for those journals to which the Library subscribes.

    SciFinder Scholar is a desktop research tool providing chemical and related scientific information. It retrieves information contained in databases produced by Chemical Abstracts Services (CAS) as well as the MEDLINE database from the National Library of Medicine. In addition to patent and journal references, CAS's REGISTRY database provides information about organic and inorganic compounds and sequences. CASREACT provides chemical reaction information. Chemical source and registry information is provided through the CHEMCATS and CHEMLIST databases.
