developed statements and recommendations to assist practitioner and patient decisions
about appropriate health care for specific clinical conditions.

Clinical Practice Guidelines
These guidelines were developed with the support of the Agency for Health
Care Policy and Research (currently the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality). A series of 19 Clinical Practice Guidelines were published over
a 4-year period, 1992-1996.

Guideline Clearinghouse:
Provides access to over 600 evidence-based clinical practical guidelines,
related summaries, and other material. The database contains guidelines submitted
by more than 125 health care organizations, associations, and medical societies.
The site is sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (formerly
the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research) in partnership with the American
Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans.
