National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Region

On May 1, 2006, the University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library began a $11.2 million, five-year contract from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to serve as the Regional Medical Library (RML) for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Region.

The mission of the Network is "to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by:

1) Providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information

2) Improving the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health."

The SE/A, along with its seven counterparts across the country and the Network Office at NLM, provide the leadership in regional and national outreach efforts to fulfill the Network mission

NN/LM SE/A members include 31 resource libraries and over 1,100 primary access libraries and organizations in Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
