Please note that this will be an "extra ticket" item that you will need to purchase while registering for the 2007 MAC annual meeting .
This MAC initiative is in response to requests from MAC librarians who attended the Southern Chapter's Hospital Librarians Symposium at our joint chapters meeting in October 2006. Several people requested that MAC host a symposium for AHEC/hospital librarians at our annual meeting. Our goal is to support MAC/MLA AHEC and Hospital-based Librarians by promoting our role and value as health information professionals, encouraging our recognition and compensation in hospitals and in the health information field, and fostering our development of the knowledge and skills essential for professional development and excellent performance in our hospitals.
The symposium will be a forum for discussion of essential, timely issues in hospital librarianship. Speakers will be:
Dan Wilson, the MAC Benchmark Educator, who will share information from MLA about the new benchmarking survey. Dan will encourage participation in the survey by providing survey purposes, changes and instructions.
Pat Hammond, MLA/Hospital Libraries Section member, who will provide a summary of Hospital Libraries Section activities and initiatives.
M. J. Tooey, Past MLA President, who will provide information about the status of MLA's Vital Pathways Task Force for Hospital Librarians.
Our target audience is AHEC and hospital-based librarians, however all are welcome! Join us to celebrate our unique contributions to medical librarianship.
