Chris Olson has been helping information professionals with their marketing plans and communications activities for more than 23 years.
She has applied her BA in Art History, MLS and MBA on consulting projects ranging from library service reinventions and brand development,
to product portfolio management and web site marketing strategies, to promotion campaigns and logo identity systems.
Over the years she has provided marketing and communications expertise to more than 60 different clients. Chris develops and offers
marketing and communications workshops for the OCLC CAPCON office in Washington, D.C. She recently participated in the MLA webcast,
"Survival of the Fittest," speaking about communications touchpoints. She is the editor and publisher of Marketing Treasures, the free,
electronic newsletter with marketing ideas and resources for information professionals. Her firm also provides free, original library clip
art on one of their web sites, libraryclipart.com.
Among her prior clients are: the National Library of Medicine with their product, Grateful Med; the National Cancer Institute and PDQ; the National Network of Libraries of Medicine including the Southeastern Atlantic network office; the Information Service of the Food & Drug Administration; and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) web site team.
In April 2006 Chris and her husband, Todd, moved into their new waterfront dream house overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. There are still
piles of unpacked boxes stacked in the attic, but no one is losing sleep over them. Instead, on nice days Chris and Todd, along with their
cat, DaVinci, prefer to sit on the back deck overlooking the Bay, soaking up the warm sun while watching the osprey fish for their meals.
