Library Advisory Committee Guidelines

Membership and terms of office:

The membership of the Library Advisory Committee includes individuals appointed for discrete terms and individuals who serve ex officio. Appointments are made annually at the initiation of the Library Executive Director. Terms of office for faculty representatives are for three years with renewable terms on a staggered basis to provide continuity. Terms of students are one year.

The deans of UMB schools appoint faculty members. The President of the Faculty Senate appoints the Faculty Senate representative. Students will be appointed by the student affairs offices in the schools.

Chair and Meetings:

The Executive Director of the Library will serve as the vice chair of the Committee. A Chair will be elected from among the faculty members from the committee annually. Ex officio and students may not serve as Chair. The Chair and Vice-Chair together develop agendas and call the meetings. The term of office for the Chair will be two years with a chair-elect being elected in the fall of the second year of the Chair's term. Consecutive chairs may not come from the same school.

Agenda items will be solicited from all members of the committee.

The Committee will meet at least twice annually in the Spring and Fall semesters; additional meetings will be held if necessary at the call of the Chair and Vice-Chair.
