Disruptive Behavior Policy

The Health Sciences & Human Services
Library supports the research, education and clinical information needs of the
University of Maryland Baltimore health and human service professionals. In order
to insure a scholarly environment for the Library's clientele, we do not allow
behavior that is incompatible with the use of the Library by its patrons or staff.
The HS/HSL prohibits the following conduct
on its premises. Behaviors not permitted include, but are not limited to:
- using radios, walkmans, computers,
or other sound-generating devices at volumes that can be heard by others;
- making disruptive noise;
- using threatening, intimidating or
abusive language;
- abusing, intimidating or sexually harassing
others;
- fighting or other rowdy behavior;
- smoking or the consumption of any tobacco
product (including chewing tobacco and snuff);
- entering areas of the library marked
"Staff Only";
- refusing to leave the Library when
the building is closed;
- entering or leaving the Library through
unauthorized exit doors, except during an emergency;
- damaging or using furnishings or equipment
inappropriately;
- using library staff equipment (including
telephones, computers, printers).
Failure to comply with these guidelines,
when inappropriate behavior is brought to your attention, may result in our
requesting you to leave the Library premises immediately.
