Wellness Wednesdays Special Presentation
In recognition of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
(February 25 - March 3, 2007), the UMB Athletic Center, Counseling Center and Student Services present Am I Hungry? Moving Beyond the Trigger, a FREE informative presentation and discussion on ways to curb the mindless eating habits we sometimes succumb to when when we're under stress. Wednesday, February 28, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, in Room 245, the Multi Purpose Room of the New Student Center @ Pine Street.

Women's Self Defense Classes
The Rape Aggression Defense System (RAD) is comprised of easy to learn and proven effective physical defense tactics. This hands-on course course will teach you the basic self defense techniques and common sense approaches to safety on campus. The course includes 12 lessons taught by two trained and certified Campus Police officers from the University of Maryland. There is a one-time $12.00 fee that is to be paid at the first class. Classes begin February 19th and end on March 28th. Register online.
Intro to Backpacking Class
Tired of navigating the same old urban sprawl? Learn to travel some new trails in the University Athletic Center's Intro to Backpacking Class. You'll learn the basics of hiking, trail navigation, wilderness orientation, and camping. For those who are interested, you’ll be treated to some spectacular scenery on an overnight trek. This course if free to UMB students and staff and only $10 for UMMC, UMBC, and UB students and staff. Classes will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Center, Monday evenings from 5:15 - 7:15 pm on February 26, March 5, and March 12. Register online.
Free Noon Yoga
The University Athletic Center offers free lunchtime yoga classes for students. UMB faulty and staff can participate for $1. Postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana) are integrated together to help promote stability, energy, flexibility and relaxation. Classes are given on Mondays from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the Student Center on Pine Street, Room 245.
