Avian Flu Web Page Released by HS/HSL

The Health Sciences and Human Services Library has developed and released a web page linking to resources and information on avian flu. The page can be accessed directly at http://www.hshsl.umaryland.edu/resources/avianflu.html or by going to the HS/HSL web page and clicking through to the Resources section and selecting the Avian Flu link under “Web Sites by Subject.” The web page includes links to national and international sites and policies. A bibliography of essential articles is also included.

Avian, or bird flu, has been increasingly in the news lately as authorities raise concerns about a possible pandemic. “The avian flu web site joins our terrorism and SARS web sites as the HS/HSL’s response to major public health issues.” States M.J. Tooey, executive director of the HS/HSL. “We believe quality information underpins quality preparedness, response and treatment.”

The mission of the site is to link the campus community to health and wellness information, as well as campus resources.
