The Historical and Special Collections Department serves as the University of Maryland archives documenting the health sciences and social work professional schools on the Baltimore campus.

The Library's rare book collection of over 8,000 volumes also resides in this department. Individual historical collections of chiefly pre-1946 imprints are included, featuring significant works in the health sciences and social work fields.

Bio

Rich has served as the head of the Historical and Special Collections Department since 1987. He originally joined the HS/HSL staff in 1981, managing the Serials Department. Before then, he was Serials Librarian at the Loyola-Notre Dame Library in Baltimore.
