    EBSCOhost's Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary, full text database designed specifically for academic Institutions. Through the database, the HS/HSL has provided links to over 600 full text journals in many areas of study - including the social sciences, chemistry, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and more.

  • AGELINE
    Produced by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), this database contains citations and abstracts to books, journals, research reports, consumer guides and book chapters. The references in AgeLine come from the gerontology collection of AARP's Research Information Center, as well as selected articles from 300 magazines and journals, aging-related dissertations from UMI's Dissertations Abstracts database, and descriptions of videos. It covers topics such as government-sponsored programs for elders, healthcare costs and policy, elder care, financial and retirement planning, and fitness. 1978 to present. Updated three times a year.

    Produced by the National Cancer Institute, CancerLit contains bibliographic records pertaining to all aspects of cancer therapy, clinical and experimental; chemical, viral and other cancer causing agents; mechanisms of carcinogenesis; biochemistry, immunology and physiology of cancer; and mutagen and growth factor studies. CancerLit also contains unique records derived from the proceedings of professional meetings, government and technical reports, symposia reports, dissertations, and selected monographs. 1983 to present.   • Cochrane Library
    A collection of regularly updated, systematic reviews of the effects of health care, maintained by contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration. Cochrane reviews are reviews mainly of randomized controlled trials. The Cochrane Library includes the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, the Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness, the Cochrane Controlled Clinical Trials Register and other sources of information on the science of reviewing research and evidence-based health care.     The World Wide Web version of the print and online index, Current Contents, which is produced by the Institute for Scientific Information. The HS/HSL subscribes to three editions of Current Contents, containing information from 1997 to the present: Clinical Medicine; Life Science; and Social & Behavioral Sciences. Updated weekly.

  • Current Index to Statistics - Extended Database (CIS-ED)
    A bibliographic index to publications in statistics and related fields from 1974 to the present (currently defined as publications through the end of 1998 plus some early 1999 publications). Included are 106 "core journals", as well as selected articles from about 900 additional journals, and about 8,000 books in statistics. Each year, it is updated with an additional year of coverage. CIS is a joint venture of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

    eFacts is provided by Facts and Comparisons and includes Drug Facts and Comparisons®, Drug Interaction FactsTM, The Review of Natural Products® and Med Facts: Patient Information. Drug Facts and Comparisons is a comprehensive drug information compendium. Drug Interaction Facts includes more than 1,200 interactions monographs detailing possible drug interactions. The Review of Natural Products provides detailed information about natural products; including their botany, history, chemistry, pharmacology, medicinal uses, toxicology, and patient information. Med Facts: Patient Information Hand-outs is designed for patient education, counseling and drug therapy management.

    Integrates information from a number of databases (nucleotide sequences, protein sequences, macromolecular structures, whole genomes, and MEDLINE) at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Entrez provides access to over 10 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases with links to participating online journals.

  • ETOH (Alcohol and Alcohol Problems Science Database)
    Produced by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), ETOH covers all aspects of alcohol abuse and alcoholism. It includes abstracts and bibliographic references to journal articles, books, dissertations, conference papers and proceedings, reports and studies, and chapters in edited works. Updated monthly, ETOH contains research findings from the late 1960s to the present, as well as historical research literature.

    The Journals@Ovid database is an aggregate of scientific, technical, and medical journals from selected publishers and societies. The Health Sciences and Human Services Library subscribes to eighty-four of these journals, which are linked to the MEDLINE and CINAHL databases to provide full-text access to articles.

    Provides full text for approximately 1,840 general reference, business, consumer health, general science, and multi-cultural periodicals. It also offers indexing and abstracts for approximately 2,810 periodicals. Full text backfiles go as far back as January of 1990, while indexing and abstract backfiles go as far back as January of 1984. Updated daily.

    A collection of twelve databases which support clinical decision-making and high-quality patient care by providing comprehensive drug, acute care, and toxicology information. Updated quarterly. Micromedex® is available free to current faculty, staff and students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and to staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). Through special agreements, School of Pharmacy preceptors may also access the system. A Library barcode is required.

  • NLM Gateway
    This site provides a single interface that lets users search multiple retrieval systems at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The NLM Gateway accesses MEDLINE/PubMed (includes PREMEDLINE), OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus (NLM's online catalog), AIDS Meeting abstracts, MEDLINEplus (consumer health), HSRProj (health services research projects), DIRLINE (directory of health organizations), document delivery through Loansome Doc and the UMLS Metathesaurus.

  • OLDMEDLINE via NLM Gateway
    OLDMEDLINE contains citations to articles from international biomedical journals covering the fields of medicine, pre-clinical sciences and allied health sciences during the period 1957 through 1965. Subject searching of this database is available through key words (the original Medical Subject Headings, assigned prior to 1965) and text phrases. Unlike MEDLINE, this file contains neither abstracts nor MeSH heading (MH) field data from NLM's current controlled vocabulary.

    Search hint: To limit retrieval to OLDMEDLINE citations, perform a search in the NLM Gateway. Chose "Journal Citations" from the Result Summary page. From the Result page select OLDMEDLINE from the "Pick A Collection" drop down menu, and then press the "Jump to Collection" button.

  • ScienceDirect
    ScienceDirect is a database of full text journals. Several academic libraries in Maryland have joined together to subscribed to this service. By participating in this agreement, the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL) can now provide electronic access to over 200 of its print Elsevier journals in addition to Elsevier titles owned by the other participating academic libraries. ScienceDirect also allows you to search by topic within its journal collection. However, full text is only available for those journals to which the consortium subscribes.
