Sponsored by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINEplus provides links to reliable patient and consumer information on bereavement. Topics include the latest news, general overviews, coping, specific conditions/aspects, organizations, children, men, seniors, and teenagers. Links to Spanish language information is also included. Bereaved Parents of the USA is an organization designed to support families following the death of a child. It provides information on local chapter meetings, including those for the Maryland chapter of the organization. The site provides information for the newly bereaved, access to its newsletter, and and links to non-profit and other resources. The Compassionate Friends is a nonprofit self-help organizations whose misssion is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive. Their web site offers links to local chapters, brochures, and conference information. It provides resources for siblings and links to news and other resources. Resources for Children and Their Parents and Educators This site provides a list of books for parents, caregivers, and educators who wish to discuss the the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001 with childreen and teens. It lists books on separation and loss. The list was compiled by the Association for Library Service to Children Quick Lists Committee. |
