      This consumer-friendly database, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, provides patients and members of the public easy access to information about the location of clinical trials, their design and purpose, criteria for participation and additional disease and treatment information.


    • Genetics Home Reference
      The National Library of Medicine's web site for consumer information about genetic conditions and the genes responsible for those conditions.

    • Household Products Database
      From the National Institute of Health and the National Library of Medicine, this database contains information on over 4,000 consumer brands, allowing consumers to research products based on chemical ingredients.

    • Interactive Health Tutorials
      MEDLINEplus, the consumer health web site of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), has added a series of interactive tutorials for patient education. Produced by the Patient Education Institute, these resources, using animated graphics, explain a procedure or condition in easy-to-read language. In addition, each tutorial is fully narrated and has an option for printing a PDF version of the material.

    • MedlinePlus
      Developed by the National Library of Medicine, this consumer-oriented site provides access to extensive information about specific diseases and conditions and also has links to consumer health information from the National Institutes of Health, dictionaries, lists of hospitals and physicians, drug information from the United States Pharmacopeia, and health information in Spanish and other languages.
