The Challenge Congenital heart disease represents a cycle of lifetime concerns as infants grow to adulthood, develop careers and plan to become parents. This web site attempts to illustrate the wide horizons of public health perspectives and call attention to ways in which the care and outlook might be improved for individual patients, their families and communities. The material is not new, but it is assembled with a central focus on prevention of all natural and acquired risks to good health and longevity. The future of pediatric cardiology should
lie not only in new cardiologic procedures on more and more patients, but also
in doing everything that needs to be done so that each patient can achieve the
fullest benefit of all knowledge and support.
