The Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL) is offering the following workshops free of charge to UMB faculty, staff and students; UMMC staff; HS/HSL Resources Plus! Members; and HS/HSL Corporate Members during the 2009 Fall Semester.
All in-person workshops will be held in one of the three computer classrooms located on the Lower Level of the library. Registrants for an online workshop will receive an email containing instructions for joining the session online.
To register, complete the registration form. Although registration is recommended, walk-ins are welcome!

Designed for beginning grant proposal writers, this workshop presents a general overview of the grant and funding processes as well as the level of detail required in a successful proposal. Each component of the grant writing process will be addressed, including: documenting the need; identifying the target population; writing measurable objectives; developing a work plan, an evaluation plan and dissemination plan.

This workshop reviews the principles of evidence-based health care and offers strategies for finding the best clinical evidence. Navigating the Library for Chinese Speakers [Register]

Psychosocial Instruments [Register]
This workshop will provide information on how to find descriptions and reviews of tests in the literature. Strategies will be presented on how to locate actual tests and measurements using both electronic and print resources. PubMed [Register]
This class will cover the National Library of Medicine's PubMed database. Topics include basic searching, searching using the MeSH (Medical Subject Heading) database, creating a personal account using MyNCBI, and locating full text articles. We will also cover the Clinical Queries and Systematic Reviews search features. The majority of the class will be dedicated to creating and executing literature searches.
