3D Printing is being quickly adopted in health sciences and healthcare for both educational, research, and clinical purposes. In this workshop you will learn where to find and download 3D model files online and learn the steps to take to ensure that the file can actually be printed including scaling and checking for non-manifold geometry issues. This workshop will also provide an introduction on how to operate the Makerbot Replicator 2X and Afinia H480 3D Printers which can be used at the HS/HSL Innovation Space.
In this workshop you will be introduced 3D modeling. You will learn where to find existing models and how to create a model from scratch. We will measure a small physical object and model it using Tinkercad.com, a free 3D modeling web service. No prior experience or tools are necessary.
